Rifugio San Sebastiano at Passo Duran

Unfortunately, the poor weather persisted and we needed to move on to try and keep up with our schedule.  We were still advised not to hike so this involved taking three buses and a taxi.  Once at Passo Duran we checked into the family run Rifugio San Sebastiano.

They were all welcoming and helpful.   Beniamin, the dad, got out his maps and showed us the best way to once again join our trail without walking through treacherous terrain. Most of our afternoon was spent in front of their cozy fire.

Later in the day very cold, wet hikers started to drift into the hut.  They told us tales of their miserable day of snow, rain, wading through swollen rivers, and slipping down slick paths.  Once again the hut masters had given us good advice!
