Breakfast at Erfurterhütte was a jovial event as the busy dining room was packed with an array of delicious food and friendly hikers.
The hut, as it was adjacent to the Rofan Cable Car station, provided a quick and easy walk to the cable car for the journey down the mountain. The short distance to our next destination would allow us to relax for the day and explore the towns of Maurach and Pertisau on the shore of the lake Achensee that afternoon.
As we descended through the clouds, Achensee came into view. What a gem even on a cloudy day!
During a leisurely walk along Achensee we occasionally took a few minutes to rest and enjoy the surrounding beauty.
We dropped off our packs at our hotel for that night, Seepension Knappenhof in Perisau, and explored the area unencumbered.
The highlight of the afternoon was a ride on one of the lake’s tour boats to the end of the lake and back. We experienced amazing scenery along the way.
Nancy and I returned to the pension at the end of the day to conclude our well-earned day of rest.
