After breakfast we drove with our friends to Powis Castle, just a short distance from our B&B. Game birds were everywhere and often kept us waiting for some time while they did their socializing.
Powis Castle, quite impressive and beautifully kept, was originally built in the 13th century by a Welsh prince. The Herbert family acquired it during the 1500’s; their descendants are the current owners but do not live there now.
An afternoon of wandering in the castle’s gardens was a perfect way to rest and refresh.
Our friends dropped us off at The Pentre and left for North Wales, after which we spent a lovely evening at the Offa’s Dyke Brewery in Trefonen.
