After two days of scouting out Dublin and recovering from jet lag, the big day was finally here. We began our first trek, The Wicklow Way, which follows the Wicklow Mountains in a southwesterly direction revealing wonderful mountaintop views of the sea, lakes (loughs), green pastures and heather covered hillsides. Not only was the landscape appealing, but we found the Irish people to be warm, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about their history.
Let the Wicklow adventure begin!
Day 1 – Marlay Park to Crone Woods Car Park
Day 2 – Crone Woods Car Park to Roundwood
Day 6 – Kyle Farm to The Dying Cow (near Shillelagh)
Day 7 – Raheenakit to Clonegal
After completion of the Wicklow Way, we traveled to southwestern Ireland and County Kerry, where we began “The Kerry Way”.
