Winter rain is over and the training has begun.
I started walking two months ago on a more regular basis. I began with no pack and walking about 8 miles several times a week. Three weeks ago I put the pack on and began to get a little more serious. I purchased a new pack for this adventure. It is a Mountain Hardware Outdry pack which is waterproof. I have now loaded my pack which weighs about 15 pounds with no water. I am walking three to four times a week anywhere from six to eight miles as of now. Once in the Sierras that mileage will double. Hiking in the Sierras this summer will be an adventure because of the tremendous snow load that is in the higher elevations.
