After a mostly uneventful flight I have arrived in Germany. Fortunately I had no seat mate and was able to squench (is that a word?) up enough to lie down and sleep. Upon arrival I got a call from some dear German friends who were at the airport on their way to Majorica. We met up at the post office in the airport where we had to mail a change of clothes to our Venice hotel. I think the plan will be for them to join us on our trek at some point.

The train to Bad Tölz was easy to catch as it was in the airport. The countryside became more and more lovely as we traveled toward the pre Alps. Bad Tölz is a charming resort town with a quaint Altstadt (old city). There are many buildings with murals which adds so much to the ambience of this area.

After a 2.6 mile walk we arrived at the Leonhardihof Hotel near the Isar River which will be the start of our trek. Wolfgang,  our host, warmed up quickly and gave us a great recommendation for dinner.  The Reutbergstubel served traditional Bavarian food which was yummy. Now sleep…….
