Cicerone map of The Adlerweg

The beauty of the Alps has always drawn me to want to plan and hike another portion of these spectacular mountains. I have found most of my hikes by searching through the Cicerone guidebooks (www.cicerone.co.uk), which is how I discovered the Adlerweg or in English, The Eagles Walk. The official length of the trek is 188 miles and traverses the length of the Tyrol from St. Johann in Tirol to St. Anton am Arlberg. However, we picked up a little extra mileage totaling 201 miles, ascending 50,678′ and descending 35,029′. For most of the Adlerweg, the trail keeps to the mountain ranges just north of the Inntal or Inn Valley along the Inn River. The hike is challenging with no shortage of stunning views to make the long climbs and descents well worth it.
